Gospel: Mark 1:29-39

Food for Thought

• Jesus kept moving in his life; he was always on the road to the next place “so I can preach there also—that is why I have come” (Mark 1:38).   When our church follows the example of our Lord, we need to keep moving, too, reaching out into the community, the neighborhood, the city, bringing the good news of reconciliation through Christ.  What are your thoughts about that?

• One of the fathers of the early church is quoted as saying “Preach the gospel at all times; if necessary, use words.”  St. Paul wrote, “When I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16).  What about you?  How is God using you to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ?

At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1st after WHAT dinner, we will have the first of a three part series from Priscilla Shirer called SEED pack. In this series Shirer speaks on three distinct spiritual principles: Forgotten; Enough; Control. The series will be a combination video and discussion to help us be “revitalized in our relationship with the Lord and have renewed interest for hearing His word.” Pastor Robert and others will be leading the series.

Ash Wednesday Worship February 22nd  6:45p.m. Imposition of Ashes  -  Holy Communion

Beth Moore Bible Study -“ James: Mercy Triumphs” Beginning in Lent (Wednesday, February 29th at 6:30 p.m.) we will be offering the new Beth Moore series on the book of “James: Mercy Triumphs.” This will be an eight session series that will conclude in April. Each class will begin with a brief review and discussion, followed by a Beth Moore video lasting about an hour. An optional study book is available for $14.95. Please let Dianne Breitmoser or Pastor Robert know if you would like one. A sign-up sheet will be in the Hall of Memories.
